Skin is In: What to Wear to a Music Festival this Spring

As the weather warms up, it is once again music festival season.  Last week was South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.  In April we have Coachella in Indio, California.  The month of June has Bonnaroo in Manchester,Tennessee, then in August Lollapalooza in Chicago, Illinois. Bands like Arcade Fire, the Strokes, Warpaint, PJ Harvey and the National will be performing in the heat, which will bring out some fans with serious street style. These festivals are all about the music and the experience, however, every fashionista music fan needs to prepare herself with more than just water to get through the weekend! Think cropped tops and short shorts. These music festivals are the perfect time to break out your Levi cutoffs and embrace that Cali girl casual look. There are many styles that will help the ladies survive the heat and stay looking hot, not like a hot mess!
This 1970's inspired romper from American Apparel is ideal for movement, whether its dancing on stage or pushing your way through the crowds

A flirty,  floral mini dresses paired with a fedora from Forever 21 will keep you cool while listening to bands.

Every hipster girl needs the perfect pair of shades, like these by Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony
A bathing suit is a must, especially for those famous Coachella pool parties, and this Rodarte for Opening Ceremony one piece does the trick. Can be worn during the day with Levi cutoffs that are easily stripped off when its time to party!
The cropped tank top is still in this spring, perfect with high wasted shorts, both from American Apparel
Leopard print is sexy, but it has been in the spotlight for a few seasons and here, done in a cropped silhouette and worn with a floppy 1970's hat is a great way to look cool and protect your skin. Levi's cutoffs worn with Model brand top.
Blue denim is huge this spring, to make it music festival ready just cut off the sleeves! Vintage bongo shorts and vintage shirt from Nastygal.com
The accesories are just as important as the outfit! Stow your sunscreen and flask in this small leather backpack by Cooperative
These Huija sandals complete the look, but are only for the brave; chances are you will step in mud or your feet will get stepped on and definitely get dirty....
Or rock combat boots to protect your feet like this BC pair.

Have fun!
